A passion of mine has always been to find the most random diners and restaurants to try with my family! This morning, for breakfast, Mom, Megan, and I tried this little hole in the wall called Affton Diner. To be completely honest, I didn’t expect much just by the first impression I got. When we walked into the small and homey diner my nose was instantly filled with the delicious smell of coffee, bacon, and eggs! Now, I honestly and not a huge breakfast person, but as soon as I walked through the door of the diner my mouth was salivating!

While my mom ordered her normal black coffee, I decided to get a chocolate milk and Meg just got a water. While we reviewed our menus, all I could think about was if this food was going to be up to my standards or not. As the waiter walked over to take our order, I was getting excited because, well, you know… FOOD! Typically, when we go to new places we all try to get something different. This time my mom, Megan, and I all ended up getting the same meal because of the breakfast special they had going on! So we all got: two eggs over medium, home style potatoes, and bacon. But, of course, I substituted my bacon for sausage links!  I instantly fell in love with the home style potatoes! My mom said and I quote, “THESE POTATOES ARE MY NEW BEST FRIEND!” I have never tasted better home style potatoes in my life, beside my Grandmas of course! The eggs and sausage links were all good too but nothing that would make you crave to go back just for those specific items alone. My chocolate milk went perfect with my delicious breakfast! I made an egg white sandwich with my final slice of toast to finish off my plate!

Overall I would say that this diner experience was one of the better breakfasts that I have tried in a while! The over all feeling and vibe it gave off was more like one you would find in your home rather than at a restaurant! I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with my Mom and my friend Megan, as well! I am looking forward to finding other places to try so I can report back to you guys! If you have any recommendations for any diner or dive bar around the Saint Louis area, please let me know!
